# Netcatty: A Windows-Friendly Open-Source SSH Client

Good SSH clients for Windows are hard to come by. I have been using [Netcatty](https://github.com/binaricat/Netcatty) for a while now and it stuck. A few things I like. On Scoop, `scoop install lemon/netcatty` does it.

## Look and startup

Clean interface, quick to open. Both are Electron apps, but Netcatty starts faster than Tabby and never pauses the way Tabby does on launch.

## Config sync and host imports

The vault syncs to GitHub Gist, Google Drive, S3, or WebDAV, encrypted end to end on your own machine before upload. What the provider ends up holding is ciphertext, and the docs state plainly that the cloud provider is treated as untrusted. The trade-off: lose the master password and the data is gone, with no way to recover it.

Existing hosts import directly. Alongside `~/.ssh/config` it reads PuTTY registry exports, MobaXterm, SecureCRT, and CSV.

## Dual-pane SFTP

Local on the left, remote on the right, drag to transfer. Two remote servers can also move files between themselves, so nothing has to come down to your machine first.

Remote files can be edited in two ways. The built-in Monaco editor saves as soon as you stop typing, or you open the file in an editor of your own and save it back to the server. The second route lives under Settings → SFTP → Auto-sync to remote and is off by default.

## Quick commands and broadcast

Snippets hold multi-line scripts and send them to the terminal in one go. They can also be broadcast to every open pane.

## Remote resource status

The status bar shows remote CPU, memory, disk, and network in real time, with details on hover: per-core usage, the hungriest processes, each partition, and throughput per interface. The sidebar has a System page with an overview.

## Clipboard images

Paste an image into a remote session and it uploads to `.netcatty-paste-images/`, with the remote path typed into the command line for you. That removes the scp-then-paste step when a CLI agent such as Hermes is running on the other end. This switch is off by default too, and lives in the terminal behaviour settings.

I have not tried the built-in AI agent (Catty Agent) or the external MCP support. My remote machines already run Hermes.
