A self-hosted Gitea was flooded by scrapers, draining the monthly traffic allowance quickly. Splitting HTTP and SSH onto separate domains, putting the web traffic behind Cloudflare with WAF Interactive Challenge on heavy paths, plus Caddy rate limiting and origin gzip, brought the traffic down noticeably.
